How to Guide your Couple through their Photoshoot
I want to share with you couple photoshoot ideas, tips and tricks, and how to have a successful photoshoot with your clients!
Get to Know Them!
If you don’t already know the couple you’re taking photos of, then ask them questions! Get to know them! This will make everyone feel more comfortable, which in turn will produce better photos.
You could ask them questions about their relationship, like how long they’ve been dating and how they met, or more personal questions for each of them, like where are they from, what are they doing, etc.

Use Posing Prompts Instead of Still Poses
We all know the classic, overly posed pictures, that yes, sometimes are cute, but you can just tell they don’t seem authentic. One of my favorite ways to capture more natural looking photos is by using prompts instead of poses.
For example, ask them to hug, run around a field, play tag, etc. Use your surroundings for inspiration! If you were taking pictures at a beach or body of water, and they feel comfortable doing it, ask them to see who can run into the ocean the fastest.
Get creative, and when in doubt, keep them MOVING.

Give Them What They Want!
If a client asks for a posed photo, give it to them! In the end, you want your client to be happy with the results. Some of my favorite photos from this shoot were a bit more posed than I would usually like, but they turned out AMAZING. So, don’t be afraid to try something, even if you haven’t liked it in the past!
Also, always have your finger on the trigger! You never know when there might be a cute, candid moment that would make for a beautiful photo!

Have Fun!
Lastly, and most importantly, make sure you’re having fun! Chances are, you’re doing this job because it’s something you love, so remember why you started shooting in the first place.
The best shoots are the ones when everyone is laughing and having a great time while getting creative together!
I hope this helps! ๐
